Daniel Gomez's father had been an aide to a district governor who was ousted violently in the 1980's. After which, he made his living moving Russian guns to Columbia and Columbian drugs to Mexico, Jamaica and the Bahamas.  Daniel's mother was an underaged Haitian prostitute who died a few months after his birth.

After the Dominican government collapsed during the DNV pandemic, Gomez appointed himself de facto ruler of the region surrounding Puerto Plata.  He was backed by Marika Perez who was better known by the name Amore Ambar, and who he impregnated.
