Author’s Note on the Second Edition
When the story now known as Genetic Test Subjects, Book One: Four Horsemen (GTS1) was first conceived, it was not the beginning of a six-book story arc; it was not even a story. It began as an idea for a potential new intellectual property to be developed into a series of graphic novels by some other party – and it was called Pleiadean Test Subjects. I wrote four narrative origin stories, developed character profiles for over two hundred characters, drew up organizational charts, created numerous inter-office memos, and wrote dozens of entries for Kiana Novak’s diary. For some unknown reason (perhaps my having no idea how to proceed with a treatment for an I.T.), I began to write a narrative which attempted to cram all of those items together into a single story. When it was done, I realized two things: there was a larger story needing six books to complete, and it would be easier to publish it as it was than to try sell it to a company that created graphic novels.
One and a half years later, and with the greater story planned out and several other tie-in titles in the works and/or published, it became obvious that the mashed together nature of the original title would no longer adequately serve its purpose. Therefore, a GTS1: Second Edition has been created. While the story is intact with no plot changes, it has been rewritten into a more cohesive format. The six sets of diary entries from Kiana Novak have been turned into six narrative chapters and each of the new and existing chapters have been reformatted into the distinctive style which GTS2-6 have. The original version of GTS1 has been removed from sale and replaced by the new version which is a much more enjoyable read.
Reformatting the book into a 10" by 7" size had an unexpected result. The transition from Word document on my laptop to Amazon print book was far easier by several orders of magnitude. Going forward, all print books in the GTS universe will be sized at 10" by 7".
