D'Angelo was named for a fireman who had saved his mother's life. He grew up in a suburban upper middle-class neighborhood in a community where being African American made him a novelty. He was popular in school beyond his understanding and his augmentations made him more so. He was extremely protective of his younger sister who, as he was preparing for college, received genetic augmentations herself.
After Teresa Kwan ended her relationship with him, D'Angelo left the Hoagland Institute and moved to New York City where he went into private practice.
At the end of 2025, as the DeMarco Nanite virus was sweeping the world, Teresa Kwan went to NYC to infect D'Angelo with a strain which was deemed "safe" for his protection. He went into hiding during the lizard hunts, but, in 2036, agents of the OGA tracked him down and killed him due to his prior access to Hoagland personnel files.
