Zoe’s father, Michael Gustafson (1955-2035), was a cousin of the Gustafson’s of Gustafson Dairy, but not close enough to have profited from the sale of the business. He was a corrections officer working death row at Starke Prison. Zoe’s mother, Christine Wevill (1969-2092) owned and operated a bed and breakfast adjacent to the sulfur springs for which the community was named. Zoe was the oldest of three siblings. Her sister, Bryn (1995-2097), was a veterinarian in Saint Augustine, FL and her brother, Ryan (1996-2070) was a salesman at one of the many marinas on the St. John’s River.
In September 2022, the Hoagland Institute had a 58 foot former research vessel brought to the marina she was employed at. She overhauled the twin 450 HP diesel engines and was hired to captain it. She and her husband moved to Port Canaveral which is now the ship’s home dock.
