Melanie's mother, Marta Martinez is a professional kick-boxer popular on the circuit as an undercard but never appearing in a main featured bout. Melanie concentrated her attention to the world of professional basketball and played on Kulmata University's Vixens team for two years while earning a Master of Science in Kinetic Gravitronics.  Upon graduation she was immediately signed by the Mayworld Matrons of the High Gravity Basketball Association where she quickly became a rising star of the HGBA.

Tabloid sites romantically linked to her numerous sports stars including the E.S.L.'s Satin Reigns.  In 2261, she entered into a Civil domestic Union with Mayworld businesswoman Kyra Eames.  The two had discussed raising a daughter, but in 2270, Eames was appointed to a twenty year term on the Majestic Council, and the two put parenthood on hold.
