Thalia grew up in Dallas, Texas. She was an only child. Her parents, both of whom had emigrated from Viet Nam in their childhood owned and operated a large and successful catering business.

When she was fifteen, she met graduate student Georgia Beals. The two maintained a romantic relationship for nearly a year.  Thalia's parents were distressed by this, but their distrust of the police and Beals' skillful intimidation of them kept them from putting a stop to it.  The relationship ended when Beals moved to Homestead, Florida to continue her memory experiments at the Hoagland Institute laboratory at the Homestead Air Force Base. 

After hearing Beals speak of Thalia, the lead human geneticist at the base, Doctor Jacqueline Martins, recommended her to the Pleiadeans for augmentation.  At the time, the Pleiadean known as Ailrinni was using select subjects for the AL17 program.  Thalia's endocrine system was reformatted to produce powerful psychedelic chemicals.
