Marika’s actual name and date of birth are unknown. She was abandoned on the steps of Corazon Sagrado de Jesus in Moca, Dominican Republic on March 31, 2002 and appeared to be only hours old. Like most orphanages in the Dominican Republic, the one run by the nuns of Corazon Sagrado de Jesus was far above capacity. Room was found at the Orfanato de Santa Virgen Dominica in nearby Santiago. She grew up there crowded in with countless other little girls where proper food and clothing was always in short supply.

The nuns attempted to teach her in the overcrowded classrooms, but she quickly surpassed all of the other children. When she was eight, she was allowed to sit in classes at the adjacent Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra. When she was ten, it was decided to let her officially enroll in classes. Her grasp of the material in every subject was impressive. The courses she took were highly eclectic covering history, religion, sociology, philosophy, biology and physics. After five years, she was close in a degree in a half a dozen different majors. Then, she left suddenly at age fifteen and there has been no other official record of her.

Marika Perez was brought to the orbital platform when she was six in 2008 and approved for modification. Prior to augmentation, she was exceptionally intelligent. She was given four augmentations at four year intervals. The first two occurring on the orbital platform and the second two at the M.I.R. facility.

When she was fifteen, two men accosted her on the street and tried to drag her into an alley. She fought back breaking the neck of one of the men before the second fled. Marika hid in the back of a truck and rode to Puerto Plata in the north. In a city of 329,000 with more than 100,000 hotel beds for tourists, she felt she could hide while she tried to understand what she was. She knew she was smarter than those around her. When she fought back against her attackers, she saw that she was stronger than others. She developed of feeling of superiority and invincibility. She could move freely through the slums and the resorts, and she was capable of taking what she wanted. The name Marika Perez had been a fiction made up by the nuns, so she made up a new name for herself: Amore Ambar or Amber Love.

Maricka’s fourth augmentation happened after she had lived in Puerto Planta for nearly three years. She could feel that she was stronger, faster and smarter than she had been. The resorts that brought cash into the city were all closed due to the COVID pandemic. She found what she felt was the best suite in the best resort and made it her home, filling it with whatever she wanted. Everything was free to Marika.  Everyone was a toy.
