Morgan’s father, Peter Vaught (1952-2030) was on the board of directors of CIT Group and the Formosa Plastics Group. He has served as a Presidential Economic Advisor for four Presidents. Her mother, Shannah Tate (1963-2057), was on the board of Saint Barnabas Medical Center and was a cellist with the Livingston Symphony Orchestra.
Morgan is the third of four children. Michelle Vaught (1990-2099) was an attorney in New York City. Michael Vaught (1991-2042) was a member of the New Jersey Ballet. Julia Vaught (1995-2012) was a producer at Livingston’s public access television studio and maintained an editorial website.
Like each of her siblings, Morgan went to the coeducational private day school, the Newark Academy. In addition to her high school diploma, Morgan received an International Baccalaureate degree. She played soccer each fall term and lacrosse each spring.
Morgan graduated from Vassar with a 4.0 GPA. Her Ph.D. work at Cornell University attracted a good deal of attention and her research in memory implantation, currently being conducted at Hoagland Institute’s Merritt Island Facility, was granted full funding from the N.I.H.
