Born in the Philippines, Felix moved to the United States with his parents in 1992. His father, Leon Batubara (1968-2005) was a barber who was killed in a random drive-by shooting when Felix was in high school. His mother, Teresa Marquez Batubara (1968-2033) was a waitress at LAX.

Felix enlisted in the United States Army immediately upon graduation from high school and served two three year terms doing a portion of each in Iraq. He was promoted to corporal during his first term and sergeant during his second. Prior to completing his second term, he was contacted by the Hoagland Institute and hired as a Security Consultant.

Felix was given his first genetic modification aboard the orbital platform during his basic training. He received his second during his time in Iraq. His third was performed after he was hired by the Hoagland Institute.

Felix worked security at the Titusville Administrative Complex from 2013-2018. At the time of his hiring, the security team was managed by Maxwell Campbell and consisted of two augments and ten non-augments with six of the non-augments being part-time employees. They performed basic on-site security and were unarmed.

After the opening of the Merritt Island facility and the temporary Buena Vista office, security was realigned under Lieutenant MacAvoy into three armed seven person detachments (later, strike teams) and a six person unarmed on-site security team. Felix was reassigned to one of the armed detachments later referred to as Strike Team One.
