Jessica's father was a test subject employed by the Hoagland Institute's security department.  He had received three augmentations and it was estimated that at the time of her birth her human enhancement rating was over 2.000.  

Officially, no genetic augmentations were performed on Jessica, but there was speculation that the Pleiadean Ailrinni experimented on her prior to the Pleiadeans' defeat in 2023.  She contracted the DeMarco Nanite Virus in 2026 and the nanites did not mesh well with her DNA.  She displayed low level telekinesis, early onset puberty, and overly sensitive nerve endings which caused pain.  It was discovered that she had an elevated number of Krause Corpuscles and Ruffini Endings in almost all of her dermis.  She spent most of her time at the Institute hospital until the facility was evacuated in 2031 during the 'lizard hunts'.  

At age sixteen, her body integrated the nanites into her DNA properly.  By that time, she had acclimated to living on the moon.  Her parents were in Los Angeles which was not considered safe as the early years of the independent Republic of California were marked by violent upheaval.  Jessica remained in Barrett Base on the moon, eventually becoming the lead shuttle mechanic at Barrett Base.

The gene referred to as "BAT1029" which was artificially added to the Matronis Loop of human DNA was created from the study of her pubescent condition.
