Camila grew up in Spring Valley, NY where her father, David DeGroot (1952-2049) owned a used car lot. Her mother, Vivian Howard DeGroot (1965-2087) was a hospice administrator.

In 2018, Camila married Damain Brown (1990-2079) whom she had dated in high school and who moved to Merritt Island to be with her. He worked as a bartender in Cape Canaveral until 2031.  In 2030, when most of Merritt Island was transferred to Barrett Base, Camile was pregnant.  She applied for Damain to be allowed to emigrate with her and in 2031, and he was approved.

Camila was one of two physical therapists working at the Hoagland Institute's Merritt Island facility.  She continued as such after emigrating to Barrett Base.

Kendall Brown was the first baby born on Luna.  Camile was infected with the DNV early in her pregnancy.
