Marissa was abandoned at a fire station in Ridgewood, NJ when she was roughly one year old. Her name and date of birth were created by a social worker from the New Jersey Department of Child Services. She passed through six different foster homes during her childhood.
When the Hoagland Institute moved operations to Barrett Base in 2030, Marissa left her husband and son behind. She and John Romano never divorced, but they never lived as husband and wife again.
