Daniel was the son of a clone of Arthur Hamlin and an early recipient of the DeMarco nanite variant. His genes provide him with 'negligible sentience' allowing his cells to never age. He has not exhibited any of the other genetic enhancements seen in his parents or his sister.

He lived in Orlando, Florida in a pre-nation apartment subsidized by the Free State of Florida.  Unemployment among males and un-augmented females was extremely high and he held a series of menial jobs, none of which lasted very long. 

Daniel was never able to form any long-term relationships and lived with a domesticated robot with a simulated girlfriend AI whom he named Hoover.
