Helena grew up in a trailer park in North Las Vegas just past the end of the main runways of Nellis Air Force Base. Once in awhile she attended Rancho High School until the tenth grade when she dropped out.

Her mother, Juanita Mantinez (1964-2027), worked as a convenience store clerk, a hotel maid, a cashier in various stores, a call center representative and as a waitress during Helena’s first sixteen years. Helena’s father is unknown, but is thought to be one of several mechanics from Bigelow Aerospace. Helena has an older sister, Marta (1981-2064), who left home in 1997 and is said to live in the Tucson area. Helena has not seen her since she was one.

When Helena turned sixteen, she dropped out of school and moved out of her mother’s trailer. She stayed with friends and at different outlaw biker clubs. Once a biker tried to force himself on her and she broke his jaw. No biker ever gave her a problem after that incident. She used a fraudulent I.D. to get a job at a seedy strip club. By the time she was eighteen, she was working at a classier club. She bought a trailer in the same park as her mother and a 2004 Harley Davidson Road King. After six months, she could take the bike apart and reassemble it easily. After another year, she could have done it blindfolded.

By 2018, she had united three unaffiliated biker gangs who ran drugs and girls under her direction. Within a few weeks, 75% of the drugs and prostitution in North Las Vegas went through her. A few months after that, she rode her Road King to Florida and began working for the Hoagland Institute in the security department.

At the end of August 2012, Helena was brought to the orbital platform for evaluation. She was approved for augmentation and given her first genetic modification which gave her a H.E.R. of 1.563. A second augmentation in 2015 brought Helena’s H.E.R. to 2.063. In 2018, she was brought to the Homestead facility for her third augmentation. Her score raised to 2.479.

While at Homestead, she caught Lieutenant MacAvoy’s attention. MacAvoy inquired about Helena when she took command of Institute security a few months later. Helena was approved for acquisition and MacAvoy made the initial approach. Helena was told that if she could sever her gang ties, there would be a place for her. Helena rode her bike up to the Titusville complex four days later with the three MC presidents’ heads in a duffel bag.

Helena was given a fourth augmentation bringing her H.E.R. to 2.958. She was assigned to strike team 2 under Maxwell Campbell and given a salary of $48,000 a year – a marked decrease from what she made in Nevada.

In July of 2022, Helena received a full synthetic implantation used the LaCroix method.
